Many people have the assumption plastic surgery takes hours to perform and the patient needs to spend up to weeks recovering with bandages over the face. With time, small wrinkles form, eventually growing to deep lines. In a young person, crows feet are visible only during smiling; age solidifies them into permanent wrinkles.
Crow’s-feet, perhaps the earliest manifestations of facial aging, have proven to be quite unresponsive to surgical intervention. The reason for the dismal long-term results of such surgical intervention relates to the facts that efforts have been directed to the effect (wrinkles) rather than to the cause (muscular stress around the eye).
Other procedures for smoothing skin, including laser resurfacing, chemical peels, extended Blepharoplasty, botox, silicone injections, and collagen injections have either proven to be ineffective in keeping crows feet from coming back or produce an unnatural look.
